Superintendent III - Custom Homes
About Hedrick Brothers Construction
Founded in 1979, Hedrick Brothers Construction (HBC) is a family-owned commercial general contractor headquartered in West Palm Beach, FL, with offices in Winter Park, Stuart, and Miami. For over 47 years, we have delivered hospitality, multifamily, industrial, healthcare, and public-sector projects throughout Florida, ranging from $5M to $160M. Our culture is built on our GRIT values: Growth, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Team.
The Opportunity
As a Superintendent III, you run HBC's largest, most complex, or most sensitive custom home projects with high-profile clients. You are trusted with the field assignments where experience and judgment matter most, and you mentor and develop junior superintendents. Beyond delivering your own project flawlessly, you help raise the standard of field leadership across the company.
What You'll Do
Senior Project Leadership
- Lead total construction effort on complex projects to deliver in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
- Supervise field personnel and direct subordinate superintendents and assistant superintendents; evaluate performance and develop talent.
- Mentor junior superintendents and contribute to field training and best practices across the operations team.
- Own startup and closeout end-to-end and perform estimating and pricing of change orders and small jobs.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Develop and own the project schedule with the PM; produce monthly updates and weekly three-week look-aheads.
- Lead trade partner coordination and on-site project review meetings; manage phasing and logistics on occupied or constrained sites.
- Coordinate with HBC's Virtual Design & Construction team on clash detection, constructability, and routing.
- Procure and confirm timely delivery of tools and materials.
Quality, Inspections & Client Relationships
- Own QA/QC and pre-installation coordination across all disciplines via Procore.
- Schedule and walk all inspections; communicate tactfully with inspectors to pass first time called and understand building codes and regulations.
- Manage submittals, RFIs, permit log, and as-builts; ensure complete, timely Procore documentation and cost coding.
- Build trusted relationships with owners, architects, and inspectors and lead warranty-period follow-up — with the goal that every client would build with HBC again and refer us.
Safety & Loss Prevention
- Champion HBC's safety culture and ensure full compliance with OSHA requirements, company policy, and the site-specific safety plan.
- Lead and document weekly toolbox safety meetings and conduct the weekly jobsite safety inspection across the entire site.
- Maintain SDS files, safety signage, emergency contacts, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and PPE stock at all times.
- Partner with the Safety Department to build and maintain the site-specific safety program and correct deficiencies immediately.
- Complete and submit all incident and accident reports and investigations; maintain contact with any injured employee and coordinate with HR.
